Last weekend biking bud Jani and I biked from Berlin to the city of Rostock on the Baltic coast, about 150 miles over two days. Super interesting tour through the former GDR that featured mostly farmland, forests and small cobblestoned towns with ancient churches. Realization: there is very little industry outside of a few major towns in the former East Germany. Lots of bike trails through the countryside. And even the main roads are pretty deserted.

| And then it began dumping rain. Luckily there was a bus shelter two minutes after it started. |

| Rostock was a former member city of the Hanseatic League, so you get these interesting Hansa architecture churches here and there. |

| We changed clothes and pedalled around town for 45 minutes before getting on the train. |
