- children wear slippers whenever they're in the school vs. wearing their sneakers all day inside & outside
- teachers clean up any sand/dirt/water on the floors immediately so as to keep it spotless vs. cleaning staff clean up at the end of each day
- children sit quietly at the table waiting for "Bon Apetite" to eat their snack vs. free for all, passing of snacks around the table using tongs and putting snacks on plates
- teachers serve the children a choice of fruit tea, water or milk vs. kids pour (and spill) their own milk
- each child has a towel, cup and toothbrush (they brush teeth after lunch) vs. one bathroom with two sinks for 50 children to use, paper towels.
- toilets have a door for privacy vs. open toilet area so everyone walking by the bathroom can see a kid go poo
- 3-5 year olds change into "gym" clothes gently folding and placing their other "play" clothes on a chair in the classroom vs. kids play in whatever they wore to school whether it's an Elsa costume dress or a batman cape
- after playing in the sand/mud, each child gets a shower and changes into clean/dry clothes prior to being picked up by their parent vs. picking up a muddy/soaking wet kid and trying to figure out how NOT to get your car covered in said mud/mess
- at naptime the children strip down to their underpants, carry their sleeping mats and duvets into the nap room vs. kids nap with whatever dirty little blanket they brought and rest on hard little cots wearing the same dirty clothes they've been playing in all AM
(this is just a start, I'm sure!)
